Daisy corals also known as Tunastraea. Like all reef building corals, daisy corals have a hard limestone skeleton, but they do not have any symbiotic seaweeds in their tissues to provide them with food. Instead, they must rely on the planktonic animals they capture from the water to supply all of their energy. Because they do not have seaweeds and do not need to live in the light, daisy corals can live in tunnels and overhangs where other corals cannot survive. This means there is not so much competition with other corals for space to grow. Find out what do they look like, what do they eat, where do they live.......(pdf) Click here (webpage) ubastraea sp. |
