Chinatown is transformed during Chinese New Year as local businesses compete in the Chinatown Challenge Shopfront Decoration Competition.

Auspicious symbols, traditional New Year decorations and this year’s zodiac sign, the Rat, will be displayed throughout Sydney’s Chinatown, creating a unique display bringing good fortune to businesses for the coming year.

Shopfronts will be decorated from 6 February (Chinese New Year’s Eve) until 24 February, so come and enjoy the spectacle of Chinatown at its best dressed.

The winning shopfront will be announced by Lord Mayor Clover Moore MP at the Chinese New Year Parade Entertainment in Tumbalong Park on Sunday, 10 February. The winning shopfront will receive return flights for two to Macau courtesy of Viva Macau with 3 nights a accomodation at Westin Macau.
